Thor pg 1

Thor pg 2

The first page started accidentally. As I was drawing Thor and was
frustrated by the character, I started a head shot on the left corner of
the page leaving room to draw more crappie drawings of him. When I realized
it was in a perfect pose to start a comic page, it kind of looked like it
had something to say. So I continued on with my make shift comic page. And
as I was drawing, I kept thinking 'what a lame character, so dated and
corny, why am I wasting my time drawing him?' I internally explained to
myself that I wanted to master him. Again I asked myself 'why?'

“Because one day when I grow up I want to be a comic
artist”………………………………………..end of long mental pause.

I’m 36 years old!! I just unraveled my whole artistic life in a brain fart.
Like many artists, my first exposure to art was through the glorious pages
of a comic book. Since then, I’ve looked at life through the filtered super
hero reality.
I can’t begin to explain why numerous times in my life I've talked myself
out of trying to get involved in comics. It’s completely RETARDED! But here
I am drawing Thor.

But I had a moment, what Samuel L. Jackson called, in the movie Pulp
Fiction,
a “moment of clarity.” Fuck it! I can do this. I have the good foundation to
build on. I just need to sharpen my skills. I can do this! So this is the
beginning
of my attempt to fulfill my destiny! To reach the mountain top! To boldly go
where no 36 year old, married, father of 2, graphic designer has gone
before. Weeeeeeeeeee....

THOR#2

i'm not real happy with this one either, its my 5th drawing of Thor already, the others didnt make it to the blog.

THOR THE FIRST

THIS WAS MY FIRST THOR I WASN'T VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
